I finally saw "Wendy and Lucy"

"Wendy and Lucy," a film starring Michelle Williams and filmed in the area of Oregon where I live, found its way into my DVD player last night (thanks, Netflix!). My friend Eric, the professional movie critic, warned me that he predicted that I wouldn't like the movie. He further forewarned me that I would call it "boring."

Don't underestimate friends that have known you since college. He was dead-on accurate. The film was painfully slow-moving, with not a whole lot happening. While I was obviously sympathetic to the bad things that befell Williams, the movie didn't do much else.

One reason why I knew I was going to see this movie - no matter what Eric said - was that part of it was filmed at my office in Beaverton. I remember the filming dates and was on location with Williams, the catering folks, and the fake cops. Yep, although real cops were crawling all over the place (some eager to be in the movie, too!), fake cops were imported and used.

It was neat to see the fingerprinting room, the holding cells, and the front counter of the place where I start each and every shift. People with sharp eyes will even be able to pick out my office's logo and actual name on the paperwork that Williams signs after she is arrested for shoplifting.

Eric wrote about "Wendy and Lucy" here on his blog, even giving it a B+ rating.
