Motorcycle School

Today was day two of three.  Day one was all classroom lecture, 6pm-9pm.  I was surprised (I know, what a chauvinist pig I am) that our instructor was a female.  I was also surprised that of the 24 people enrolled in the class, there were many women in the class.  It seems the motorcycle bug has gotten into everyone in rain-drenched Oregon.  There was homework, too, reading from the manual.

Today was an early start.  We were on their motorcycles at 7:15am!  We rode until 11:15am and broke for lunch until 12:30.  I have ridden the first 11.3 miles of my motorcycle career!  I even figured out the clutch and shifting gears, etc.  It was great fun and totally dry.  It didn't start raining until we broke for lunch.

We then had two more hours of classroom work.  Tomorrow we're on the motors again.  We then have a written test and a proficiency test.  Successful completion equals a waiver that I can take to DMV to get a motorcycle endorsement (without any further testing!).
